This short evening course is packed with everything you need to know to get you started as a wood engraver. Your tutor, Ben Goodman, has over 10 years experience teaching wood engraving, and he will guide you through the process as you learn to prepare, cut, and print your own wood engraving.

The course is designed for anyone who hasn’t tried engraving before, or who needs a little refresher. No previous experience is needed, so just come along with an idea or two of what image you would like to engrave. Wood engraving is the perfect choice for anyone hoping to start printmaking at home because it doesn’t require a printing press. All you need is a piece of wood, some tools, ink and paper. Yet with these simple ingredients you can make beautiful and intricate prints, cards, jam labels, ex libris, or limited edition works of art.
