Multi-block, Multi-colour Woodcut with Matthew Lintott

ÂŁ110

Build on your woodcut skills by adding layers, colour, and creative variation.

This two-part workshop takes you beyond the basics of woodcut, exploring the creative potential of multi-block and multi-colour printing. Over two consecutive Tuesday evenings, you’ll learn how to plan, carve and print with layered blocks and colour combinations—discovering how registration, overlays and variation can bring your prints to life.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan your design across two blocks, considering registration and layering.
  • Carve your first block and print a light/base colour (Session 1).
  • Carve your second block and print a second colour, experimenting with overlays and variations (Session 2).
  • (If time allows) Explore stencil techniques or re-use block A with a different colour for further variation.

What the course will cover:

  • Sketching and planning for multi-block prints.
  • Registration and layering techniques.
  • Carving approaches for multi-layered designs.
  • Colour choices, overprinting and creative experimentation.
  • Optional stencil tricks and block re-use.

Who it’s for:

This workshop is perfect for those who have already taken our Introduction to Woodcut but it is also open to newcomers. Matthew will guide participants step by step, making it accessible even for complete beginners.
